"The myth is that European (EU ?) defence will cut across NATO's functions" This is not a myth but a serious concern and cannot be dismissed by "the fact is that NATO is and will remain the sole basis of our territorial defence". If that is the case why do we need anything more? If you have a sole basis it is self evident that there is only one and Mr Cook must know this.
