It doesn't matter how much the anti-Europeans rant and moan, the simple truth is that the euro is coming.
Most big businesses realise that and are taking the steps needed to prepare for it.
On this page we list just some of the major firms who are getting ready for its introduction to this country.
A year from now, 12 of our EU partners will be using euros instead of francs, marks, punts and other currencies.
We will do the same when we visit those countries on holiday or for work. And Britain will be the odd-one-out. when their citizens travel here
What is so silly about the blinkered view of the anti-Europeans is that it is obvious this country cannot prosper without the euro. Most Britons realise that. Polls show that a clear majority believe we will be in the single currency within 10 years. Businesses are only too well aware of that and are making plans. If they did not, they would suffer when we do go into the euro.
What is needed is a sensible campaign to explain the benefits of being in the single currency. And it needs to come from Government and business.
