Mr Heath makes it crystal clear that he wanted, and still wants, the UK to be part of a European organisation united economically and politically. However he did not make his objectives clear at the time and even recently has denied that the EU is progressing into a federal state in which Britain has no control and only a minor voice in the decision making process.
